Even though anomia theory regards the opiate addict as a double failure and a retreatist, addicts can see themselves as purposeful, active and resourceful which is considered exactly the opposite image and this is because most of the addictions can provide self labeling to the person. The person starts to identify themselves as a member of a social group (Heshmat, 2019). It can be said that a social group can provide norms by which the members are expected to conform.
